The Honda CR-V is already America’s favorite crossover, plus Honda’s second-best selling model, and the 2017 model is set to take the brand to bold new heights. The CR-V has remained intensely popular despite not having any major refreshes for five years, so the team at Honda have truly gone to town to make this one count. Think radically improved dimensions, all-new powertrains, and far more standard and available technologies.

2017 CR-V Power and Efficiency

The 2017 Honda CR-V will share plenty with the popular new line of Civics, including its engines.

Options will include:

  • 1.5L Turbocharged Four-Cylinder: Makes up to 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque, which maxes out from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm for a peppier drive.
  • 2.4L Naturally-Aspirated Four-Cylinder: Delivers up to 184 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines come paired to Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Fuel efficiency figures have not yet been announced, but the 2017 model’s reduced weight means you’re likely to improve dramatically on the already generous 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway* offered by the 2016 CR-V with FWD.

2017 CR-V Design

This new generation still looks every bit a CR-V from the outside, but it rides on a whole new platform. As well as optimizing driving dynamics, the new setup adds 1.2-inches of length and 1.6 extra inches between the wheels; it’s also 1.4 inches taller and wider. Those figures add up to a big change, with the CR-V feeling more open and inviting than ever.

Maximum cargo measurements leap right up to 39.2 cubic feet, and the A-pillar has been made thinner to enhance visibility.

2017 CR-V Technology

As you might very well have expected, the CR-V will also be graced with the very latest technologies, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These two pieces of software let you sync smartphone to CR-V in order to use device functions through your onboard infotainment systems.

Perhaps even more remarkable is the Honda Sensing Suite, which includes:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Collision Mitigation Braking
  • Road Departure Mitigation
  • Lane Keep Assist

For the 2017 CR-V these features come as standard across EX trim levels and above.
