“We need a new vehicle” — Why Is It Hard?
So you’ve said the magic words.
There’s a lot that needs to happen to transform that phrase into a shiny new car or truck, and I’m sure you’re feeling the full spectrum of emotions that go along with starting down this path; excitement, anticipation and whole lot of fear. That last one is the real drag on the whole process, and many dealers don’t even want to acknowledge that these feelings exist.
Often these emotions are born from one simple fact: most dealerships try and keep the process of buying a car as murky as possible. This forces you to give up control and submit to the dealer’s process. You’ll find yourself passed from one salesman to another until you either buy a vehicle or run screaming into traffic.
This, as I’m sure you can agree, has been the general experience most consumers have at dealerships. We all want something better. However, the industry as a whole seems to be happy forcing you into a very deliberate system designed to heap all the advantages on the dealer. The current strategy at most dealerships is to give you the least amount of information necessary until they feel they have “control of the sale.” This immediately creates friction between you and your salesperson, because you aren’t working together! Instead, you fight a constant battle back and forth to determine who’s really “in charge.”
All this sounds terrible, right? It’s hard to make sense of something that seems to blatantly defy logic. Why would anyone go to market in such a way, and why would anyone do business with such an outfit? Isn’t the salesperson supposed to be helping me find what I need? WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT!
Well, here’s some light in this vast sea of darkness: we agree with you! We think the status quo creates an unacceptable situation for consumers. So we set out as a team with one goal in mind; change the system entirely! This mission led us to some brutally honest conversations with our guests who were willing to share what they would like to see improve in our industry. The most common request?
“I just wish there was more information out there about how to actually buy a car!
