Here are the steps you’ll take:

  1. Turn on the ignition (one position before starting the engine).
  2. Using the left-hand-side controls on the steering wheel, press Menu and look at the menu screen.
  3. Use (+) to choose Vehicle Information, then hit the SOURCE button.
  4. Press SOURCE once more to visit the Maintenance screen. You’ll see the engine oil life on the i-MID (intelligent Multi-Information Display).
  5. Use the (-) to choose Yes, then press SOURCE.
  6. Turn off the ignition, then start the engine to make sure the reset worked.

When you visit the service center at Klamath Falls Honda, our certified technicians will do this for you as part of a Honda oil change. Pine Grove drivers can schedule Honda oil service with us online in just a few minutes! However, if you’ve changed your oil yourself, you’ll need to do this manually.

What Factors Impact Oil Life in My Civic?

The Honda Maintenance Minder System controls Engine Oil Indicator % and other important lights and indicators. However, several external factors affect the life of your car’s oil and how long it’ll last. Engine load and temperature, miles you’ve traveled, how long you’ve traveled, and car and engine speed all influence oil life. If your Honda Civic oil light comes on before its next scheduled oil change, the Honda Maintenance Minder System is telling you the additives are breaking down more quickly than expected.
