What Do We Know About the 2017 Honda CR-V Redesign?
Details of the long-awaited 2017 Honda CR-V redesign have surfaced, and it’s expected to hit showrooms by the end of the year. The CR-V has long been the country’s standout crossover, with enough power to get you where others fear to tread without adding too much weight and size. For the 2017 model, expect new features, new engines, and larger cabin.
The 2017 Honda CR-V redesign will have at its core the model’s first-ever turbocharged engine. A 1.5L direct-injected and turbocharged four-cylinder has been optimized for both power and efficiency, resulting in up to 190 hp and what Honda promises will be top-notch mpg ratings.
Other CR-V trim levels will be powered by a 2.4L DOHC direct-injected i-VTEC engine, but both engines will be paired to a smooth-shifting Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system, which will feature Honda G-Shift control logic.
The 2017 CR-V won’t just fit new technology beneath the hood — you’ll also have a number of upgraded features. New for 2017, the CR-V can now be equipped with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, letting you sync your smartphone with ease.
Better yet, all of the state-of-the-art driver-assistance technologies of the Honda Sensing Suite will be fitted with EX and higher trim levels. Such features include:
- Collision Mitigation Braking (CMBS)
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
- Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS)
Space and Safety
Honda’s complete revitalization of the already-popular CR-V body looks like it will be a home run with drivers thanks in part to its increased space to go with all the new tech. The new interior will boast more cargo and passenger space than ever, plus expanded rear seat legroom.
